Modern Huntsman sent us to East Texas in January to spend a week with Duck Camp at the historic Bucksnag Hunting Lodge. The images ran alongside Micah Fields' essay in Volume Sixteen, a piece that traces his own waterfowl origins back to flooded timber and then asks what's left when those places go. Duck Camp has built its whole identity around that same idea, that if the water and the timber disappear, the gear stops mattering. Shooting it meant hunting the week like everyone else and photographing what was actually in front of us.
